About John

Jonathan Rist Dip Mass, IIR and ITEC I am a fully qualified practitioner of Therapeutic Massage, Indian Head Massage and Reflexology, living and practicing in Sheffield.

I first became interested in complimentary therapy several years ago. As a primary school teacher, working in a challenging and stressful profession, I turned to massage as a way to unwind and relax after an exhausting day at the ‘chalkface’. Having benefited from massage myself, I was inspired to enrol on a course at the Stillpoint Practice in Sheffield. The course in Therapeutic Massage is regarded as one of the most rigorous and demanding in the country, involving an in-depth theoretical study of anatomy as well as intensive practical training. As a result of the course, I now have a Diploma in Therapeutic Massage from the Massage Training Institute.

In addition to massage therapy, I am also a fully qualified practitioner of Reflexology. Reflexology is a treatment which works on the principle that there are reflex areas in the feet that correspond to different parts of the body. By working these reflexes, the body can be brought back into balance, helping to alleviate a variety of different conditions. I am qualified Ingham Method reflexologist, having successfully completed the year long course run by the International Institute of Reflexology.

Currently, I am working at the Wainwright Therapy Centre in Nether Edge, which is the longest running practice in Sheffield. (add link to multi map) In addition, I also practice from my home clinic, which is in Norton Lees, Sheffield S8 (near Woodseats), 10 / 15 minutes drive from the centre of Sheffield and easily accessible by public transport (20 / 20A Bus).
